Malaysian Ringgit is used as the currency unit in Malaysia and the word ringgit means "jagged" in Malay and was originally means serrated edges of silver Spanish dollar which were circulated widely in the country.
One ringgit is equivalent to 100 sen. Coins are issued in Malaysia in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 sen. Notes in Ringgit is issued in denominations of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100. Foreign currency and traveller’s checks can be excnahged to RM(Malaysian RInggit) in all banks or authorized money changers all around the country.
